Hold it for yourself, there will be no LG G7 this year. The Korean manufacturer has decided to stop its range of high-end smartphones ... To better rename and especially revive.

Among the high-end smartphones that come out every year, LG's G-series was consistently positioned as Samsung's top-selling Samsung Galaxy S outsider. Sometimes with success (LG G2, LG G3), often to no avail (LG G5, LG G6). And that probably explains why LG intends to rename it this year, according to Korean newspapers that report the words of a company executive.

"LG is preparing a new brand strategy for the G-Series for the first half of this year. Among the options considered, dialing the phone with a two-digit number and rebranding it with a new name are being studied. " Understand: the LG G7 would not take over the LG G6 but would be called something like LG H77 or something similar. A way for the brand to certainly bring it closer to its LG V10-20-30.

No Longer Suffer from Defects of Previous Devices

Above all, LG must properly restart its traditional high-end smartphone early in the year. The G-range is no longer a carrier. If the LG G2 and G3 had met with commercial success in 2014, the following devices have all encountered major problems. The LG G4 had a bootloop problem, the LG G5 suffered from unnecessary modularity and a failed design and if the LG G6 was an excellent smartphone, without major flaws, it suffered from the sad reputation of its predecessors.

If we do not yet know the exact date of release of new smartphones, it is a safe bet that it will be announced during the next few weeks, even shortly before the MWC 2018, which will be held end 2018.
